Concentration can be difficult, to say the least. Trying to go to sleep, trying to meditate, or relax? Try this:
There is a two week rule you will run into a great deal in my pages. The
two week rule, again, applies here.
Try this, loyally, faithfully, sincerely, for two weeks. It will work. If
it doesn't work, you didn't do it every night for two weeks.
Lay down, sit down, in a comfy place, in a comfy and quiet room. Look up to any of the corners of the room.
This exercise is sooo easy because you can find a corner of a room anywhere, anytime.
See the corner? See the three lines forming the corner? Pay attention to the lines, how they all meet together, how they all go off in different directions.
Close your eyes, and bring that corner to life in your mind. Study the corner, pay attention to the lines, see how they all meet together, see how they all go off in different directions. Keep the corner right there, ever present in your vision of your mind.
Sooner or later, you will find your mind has drifted off to chores undone, tomorrow's agenda, the fight from the day, worries of the hour. When you realize you drifted off, bring back the corner. Again and again, if need be.
After a while, you will find that you recognize drifting faster as well, you won't have gotten to a second worry before you think, "Oh, the corner!"
Ritually, patiently, faithfully, practise the corner as you prepare to sleep for two weeks............
