This family emigrated to Pennsylvania on board the "Phoenix" with three children and landed in Philadelphia on 15 Sep. 1749. Another EICHERT family lived in Zilling, Lorraine in the18th century : EICHERT Anthoni or EICHHARD Anthonin, † 11 Oct. 1736 Zilling (aged 75years) His wife Elisabetha, † 25 Mar. 1733 Zilling (aged 79 y, 4 m, 3 weeks), both of Reformed faith, baptismal sponsors 1713, 1716, 1718, 1720, 1729. The church records don't say if Peter EICHERT was a son of Anthony and Elizabeth. Per "Another Time" by Robert Burton Ikard, page 1, Palatine Germans Peter Sr aged 41, Christian ages 19 and Peter Jr, aged 17 or 18, came to the port of Philadelphia aboard the English ship Lydia (Master James Allen) on September 29, 1741 from Dover, England. While the older immigrants stayed in Philadelphia, Peter Jr joined those who went to Catawba County, North Carolina to obtain land. He remained there until his death. A story told is that Peter Sr and Christian were serfs in feudal Germany to a Baron who wanted one of his serf's wives as his own. This man poisoned the Baron and fled to America. (Meaning this man was Peter?) Peter Ikerd's gravestone - Directions: Ikerd Cemetery, Lawrence County, Indiana This cemetery is in Shawswich Township. On the east side of Bedford take U.S, Hwy 50 east. From Tunnelton Road intersection,
travel 1.6 miles just past the Bedford-North Lawrence School turnoff and turn right on Ikerd Lane,
go 2/10 a mile and cemetery is located at the end of the lane. Grave location in cemetery is Grave 1, lot 55, Blk 2, ref American Legion; DAR 28, page 157 Peter's brother Lorance is also buried there, Christina HAAS IKERD's Stone as well.
